Hydrogen Filling Station Opening (04.12.2007)
The UNLV/LVVWD Hydrogen Filling Station was officially opened for use at the Las Vegas Valley Water District. The station will be used for the two hydrogen vehicles that were recently converted at UNLV.
Hydrogen Vehicles Delivered to LVVWD (04.09.2007)
Both the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and the hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicle have been delivered to the Las Vegas Valley Water District for use at the Springs Preserve.
Hybrid Solar Lighting Installed (01.10.2007)
A hybrid solar lighting system has been installed at the UNLV solar site for data monitoring, and testing.
Amonix 6th Generation MegaModule™ (12.28.2006)
The new 6th generation MegaModule™ from Amonix has been installed at the CER Solar Site. The new module is still rated at 5 kW output, but at 3000 lb, it has a design that is 2000 lb. lighter than the old module. Additionally, the geometric concentration ratio is still 400:1, but the optical depth is 16" rather than 21". The new module will be monitored at the CER Solar Site for stress, strain, reliability, and performance data. Also, Finite Element Analysis will be performed to model the system's stress/strain behavior.
Zero Energy House Project Sold (12.16.2006)
Both the baseline and zero energy houses involved with the ZEH project have been sold and are occupied. The new owners have agreed to allow the CER to continue monitoring performance data from each house.

Hydrogen Solar Tandem Cell™ (08.22.2006)
Work is being done for the modeling and experimental on-sun evaluation of solar tandem cells from Hydrogen Solar Ltd.
Fuel Cell Ford Pickup Truck (08.08.2006)
A project is underway that replaces the battery and alternator of a conventional Ford pickup truck by a "fuel cell battery system".
Regenerative Weir Type Solar Still (08.08.2006)
A regenerative weir type solar still is being evaluated at our facility.

New Amonix Mega-Module Installed (04.17.2008)
A new generation of Amonix Mega-Modules has been installed at the Solar Site for more research and testing. The new module has an improved thermal management design.
Hydrogen Filling Station Upgrades (01.29.2008)
The UNLV/LVVWD Hydrogen Filling Station at the Las Vegas Valley Water District was recently upgraded with a new Fuelgen 12 Electrolyzer capable of producing 12.2 kg of hydrogen per day. The additional production will be stored in a new storage module for use in a pickup truck currently undergoing conversion.
CER Graduates (12.15.2007)
Congratulations to four Masters' students who successfully finished their studies at the UNLV Center for Energy Research: Ronald Fifield, Julian Gardner, Allison Gray and Marc Newmarker. All four obtained rewarding jobs upon graduation, good luck!
